Description

Maryland's Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program is one of the biggest changes to employer benefits in recent years, and every Maryland employer needs to understand how it will affect their business. Beginning in 2027, employers and employees will begin contributing to the state's paid leave program, with benefits becoming available to workers in 2028. While the deadlines may seem far away, decisions about budgeting, payroll systems, employee communications, and leave policies should start well before contributions begin. Whether you employ one person or one hundred, your business will be impacted. The businesses that prepare early will be in the best position to avoid surprises and plan effectively for these new requirements.
